Stephen Halliwell gave the keynote address this week at the first conference of its kind ever to be held in China. The International Symposium on Plato’s Poetics organised by the Institute for Transcultural Studies at Beijing International Studies University brought together Plato specialists from several countries alongside Chinese scholars and postgraduate students undertaking comparative work on the philosophical traditions of East and West. It is hoped that the event will help boost a growing Chinese academic interest in the study of Classics in general.

斯蒂芬•哈利维尔本周在柏拉图诗学国际学术研讨会（中国）上发表主题演讲，这是中国首次举办该类会议。该大会由北京第二外国语学院跨文化研究院主办，多国柏拉图专家汇聚一堂，众多中国学者及该院在读硕士生也倾情参与，共同探讨中西哲学传统的异同。主办方希望通过此次活动全面推动中国学术界的古典研究。
